U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Luchmy Luc, a 22-year-old native of Hollywood, Fla., stands with Heath Bell, a relief pitcher for the Miami Marlins, and Billy the Marlin, the team's mascot, after being recognized as Soldier of the Game, June 11. The Marlins kicked off a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox with a salute to the troops during one of their Military Monday baseball game. U.S. Marines attached to Special Purpose Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) prepare to hook the support straps to the bottom of CH-46E 'Sea Knight" helicopter Dec. 9. The Sea Knight delivered the antenna repeater to "antenna alley" to broadcast emergency messages to the local community of Santo Tomas. U.S. Marines from High Speed Vessel (HSV) 2 Swift, HSV-SPS 12 Marine Detachment, conduct a site survey on a 200 meter range, for joint marksmanship training with officers from the Dominican Republic Marine Corps. The joint training will also include first aid, land navigation and squad tactics. The Swift is deployed on Southern Partnership Station (SPS) 2012. SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. ships to the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America. Gen. James F. Amos, the 35th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Rear Adm. Luis Ramos Vargas, Commandant of the Peruvian Marine Corps, present a certificate of appreciation to Adm. Marco Antonio Corra Guimares, Commandant of the Brazilian Marine Corps, at the Marine Leaders of the Americas Conference (MLAC) 2011, Aug. 31. The MLAC brought the leaders of the Marine Corps' and Naval Infantries of North, Central and South America together to discuss regional issues. - Gen. James F.
