U.S. Marines and marines from partner nations participating in UNITAS LXVI pose for a photo after the squad competition during UNITAS at Escuela de Formación de Infantería Marina Coveñas in Coveñas, Colombia, July 16, 2023. The squad competition is the culminating event, pitting multiple multinational teams against each other in events that correspond to the different courses that took place during UNITAS. UNITAS is the world's longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
