U.S. Marines and Sailors with 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, sit in a Brazilian “troop carrier” boat during a bilateral jungle training event in Manaus, Brazil, Sept. 26, 2022. These boats are used for insert, extract, and medical support along the many rivers and waterways of the jungle. U.S. partnerships in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibly are forged by shared challenges and common objectives. Bilateral training events such as jungle training develops and sustains relationships that improve the capacity of U.S. and partner nation maritime forces to achieve common desired effects.
