About

UNITAS, the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise, is dedicated to strengthening regional partnerships and fostering new relationships through the exchange of maritime expertise; enabling participating forces to conduct joint maritime operations, including littoral warfare, multi-domain operations, sea basing, and amphibious operations. By focusing on complex operational environments and Expeditionary Advance Base Operations (EABO), UNITAS enhances interoperability and capability among naval and marine forces globally.

   
UNITAS LXV
Allied and partnered nations conduct multilateral training during UNITAS LXV in Chile, Sept. 2 - 12, 2024. UNITAS, hosted by Chile this year, is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility. UNITAS, which is Latin for “unity,” was conceived in 1959 and has taken place annually since first conducted in 1960. La Fuerza Armada El Salvador Col. Angel Sergio Lima, the director of Centro Regional de Adiestramiento Contra El Crimen Transnacional, shows the field training area just outside of Comando Especial Antiterrorista de la Fuerza Armada base in Ilopongo, El Salvador, to U.S. Marine Maj. David Delvalle, a regional affairs officer with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South, during a visit Sept. 25, 2019. Delvalle met with the Salvadorian leadership to ensure the partnership remains strong in the region as U.S. Marine units continuously train alongside the Salvadorian forces in the country.
