General Doug Fraser, Commander, U.S. Southern Command, welcomes Cpl. Rory Hamill, a Wounded Warrior and resident of Mays Landing, N.J., to U.S. Southern Command, May 24. Cpl. Hamill served with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines in the Helmand Province, Afghanistan when he was struck by an improvised explosive device while conducting a dismounted patrol. The Wounded Warriors flew into Miami from Washington, D.C. where they toured both the U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South. Their visit to Miami culminated in a courtside ceremony honoring them at the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls playoff match.

SOUTHCOM, MARFORSOUTH welcome Wounded Warriors

Five very special guests visited U.S. Southern Command(SOUTHCOM) and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South (MARFORSOUTH), May 24.
Wounded Marines Sgt. Sean Belliston, Lance Cpl. Edward Lyons, Cpl. Rory Hamill, Cpl. Manuel Jimenez and 1st Sgt. Michael Barrett flew in from the Washington, D.C. area to visit both commands and take in a Miami Heat game.
After an early start, the group arrived in Fort Lauderdale and were taken to SOUTHCOM and MARFORSOUTH headquarters to tour both commands, meet members of the staff, and attend some of the sights and sounds of South Florida.
Their visit culminated in a courtside ceremony honoring them at a Miami Heat game.
